もちろんこれは東京に限った話ではないですが、、、 カウンターに座る歳上のお姉様が言っていました。 「せっかく高い家賃払って一人暮らししてるんだから、一人で家飲みなんて勿体無い。外に出たらいくらでもバーが有って、そこでは色々な職業や立場の方に、社会の事なんかを教えてもらえる。」と。 一理あるなと。私も東京に出て来たばかりの頃は、もちろん、いつもバーに行くお金は無く、時に家で一人飲みもしていたイチ若者ではあったものの、やっぱり外で飲む事は、楽しかったし、近くのバーで知り合った飲み先輩方とは、もう15年の付き合いになると思うと感慨深いものがあります。

当然の事ながら、お酒を覚えるには、バーは最高の場所です。私がホテルバーテンダーとして東京に出てきた時、まだまだお酒の知識が少なく、また、ホテルでは、マニアックなシングルモルトウィスキーの品揃えをしていなかったので、お酒、特にシングルモルトウィスキーの飲み比べは職場近くのバーでやっておりました。 運良く見つけたバーは、なんとウィスキーワンショットの上限価格が一杯1000円。値段を気にしないで勉強するには最適で、オフィシャルボトルは勿論の事、ボトラーズ、オールドボトルを飲む為に通いました。 バーを楽しむ為には、そんなに細かくお酒を覚える必要はないですが、少しずつ覚えてバーテンダーとお酒を語るのもバーの醍醐味のひとつです。

カッコイイって何だろう。テレビや映画で、バーはカッコイイ人の必須シーンとして度々登場します。 ただ、良くある「あちらのお客様から」とか、「この人のイメージのカクテルを」というのはなかなか難易度が高いものです。 バーでのカッコイイは、自然体でカッコつけない事なのかも知れません。 しかしそれには、「慣れ」や「余裕」が必要です。まだそういうものが少ない若い方は、気負いせず「はじめて」や「慣れてない」をあえてバーテンダーに伝えると気持ちが楽になり、いろいろな事を聞きやすくなり、またバーテンダーも話しやすくなるかも知れません。 結局、あんまりカッコイイは意識せずリラックスしてバーを楽しむ事がバーと長く付き合うコツかも知れませんね。 皆様「バーで飲む！」を楽しんでくださいね。
