お店の前のガジュマルの木｜Gajumaru tree in front of the Bar

お店の前に大きなガジュマルの木があります。 暖かい地方、沖縄などによく生えている木で、根っこの様な土から出た部分が複雑に絡み合っている事から別名「絞め殺しの木」とも言われています。 私がこのガジュマルに興味を持ったのは、もう12年くらい前の事でした。 暑い夏の事、五反田周辺の山手通りを、大崎駅方面に歩いていると、広い歩道の真ん中に巨大な木がありました。その大きさ、記憶を辿ると、約3メートルそして、幅も木の高さと同じくらい広がっていた様に思います。

There is a big Gajumaru tree in front of the bar. It is a tree that often grows in warm regions, Okinawa, etc., and the part that comes out of soil like the root is complicatedly intertwined. so called “tree of strangulation”. It was about 12 years ago I was interested in this tree. During the hot summer, walking along Yamate-dori near Gotanda towards Osaki Station, the size of the wide sidewalk, about 3 meters in memory, I think it was as wide as the height of a tree.
